Experience alpine tradition close up ...

During the traditional evenings, in the centre of Hallstatt, visitors during the summer months get to experience the traditions of the UNESCO World Heritage region of Hallstatt Dachstein Salzkammergut from traditional dances to traditional costumes. Two hours of folklore and fun with sensational dances, rustic Schuhplattler and the indigenous sound of alpine music in a uniquely beautiful scenery.

The Hallstatt Trachtenverein d'Hirlatzer, who were founded in 1946, will present various dances on the romantic market square. This was the scene of one of Hallstatt’s greatest disasters: On the 20th September 1750 a blaze spread from the “Keferbäcks” bakery, which is now the site of Café Derbl, and reduced the majority of the square to ash and rubble. Today the market square counts as one the most beautiful places in the Salzkammergut. Every year, guests from around the world meet to immerse themselves into the history of Hallstatt. We look forward to you visiting to the summer Heimatabend traditional evenings on the market square in Hallstatt in June, July and August.

Nuevo Comienzo

The kick-off to the Hallstatt Classics is Saturday 27th July 2013 at 19.30 in the Evangelical church of Hallstatt. Here you will get to hear the Concierto de Aranjuez by Joaquin Rodrigo as well as Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 in A major, Op. 92. To welcome you, as musical hosts, is the Sinfonietta da Camera from Salzburg, Heike Matthiesen, guitar and conductor Peter WesenAuer.

"simply classic" with Peter Langgartner (violin) and Gereon Kleiner (piano). The two renowned professors, from the Mozarteum in Salzburg, are dedicated to witty caricatures of the Viennese classics, which are both humorous and profound at the same time

Procedure: Accompanied by experienced cave guides you will start at 17.00 o´clock. from Schönbergalm towards Dachstein ice cave. After a short walk of 15 to 20 minutes you reach the ice caves. Here you will find a guided tour through the fascinating world of the Dachstein ice cave and finally the highlight in the Parsifaldom, the Dachstein musical ice concert. The evening ends with the Ice Sounds meal at the Erlebnisrestaurant Schönbergalm by arriving around 19.00 o´clock.
Note:To reach the Ice Sounds concert in time, you should take the Krippenstein Dachstein cable car at least 16.30 o´clock. Last descent from Schönbergalm (section I) to the valley is at 20:30 o´clock. All offers subject to typographical errors, amendments and errors!

Challenge for extreme swimmers

The third “Lake Hallstatt swimming marathon” takes place on Saturday 3rd August 2013, in the UNESCO World Heritage Region of Hallstatt Dachstein Salzkammergut. The start of the 9 kilometre long swimming race takes place in the Untersee beach in Bad Goisern - on the north shore of Lake Hallstatt. In the extreme distance, extreme athletes from around the world will pass the world famous scenery of Hallstatt across the lake to the Obertraun beach on the south shore. Here the “Lake Hallstatt swimming marathon” will be rounded off in the evening, by a comprehensive program with award ceremonies.

Kids take part in a swimming ability competition. This year there is also something new for children who wish to take part in a swimming competition. Divided into two different age groups, children can take part in a kid’s swimming ability competition at Obertraun beach. The aim is for the kids to conquer 4-5 different elements and swim distances of about 100 or 200 metres respectively.

"Here, fun with the element 'water' is at the forefront!" says organiser Bernhard Höll. "Hellishly well cared for" is simultaneously his motto and slogan for the whole execution of the Lake Hallstatt swimming marathon.

Music for all Occasions – a "Cross Over" with SaxoFour: Christian Maurer, Florian Bramböck, Klaus Dickbauer, Wolfgang Puschnig.
Four top musicians, from international classical orchestras and bands, have getting together for some time to form an unaccompanied quartet. "Saxofour" is the Austria’s most successful answer to already vast number of international saxophone quartets.

On Saturday 10th August 2013 at 19.30 in the Hallstatt Evangelical church, the Sinfonietta da Camera Salzburg, Ulf Dirk Madler, bass-baritone and conductor Peter WesenAuer will present a classical evening with overtures and arias by Richard Wagner and Giuseppe Verdi under the title "Wagner - Verdi Gala Sternumstrahlet". Amongst others, you will get to hear overtures to " Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg ", "Die Frist ist um" from "The Flying Dutchman", “Vorspiel " and "Isoldes Liebestod" from "Tristan and Isolde" and overtures to "Aroldo", "perfidi ! ... Pietà, rispetta, amore” from "Macbeth", "Di Provenza" from "La Traviata" and the overture to "Nabucco"

Head first into the competition

International Paragliding Aerobatics Cup in Obertraun. Full throttle from the Krippenstein to Lake Hallstatt: The Krippenstein Paragliding Association will be hosting the International Paragliding Aerobatics Cup daily from Thursday 15th to Sunday 18th August 2013 at 10 a.m. at the Obertraun beach. First, the pilots jump from the 2100 meters high Krippenstein, and then conjure up spectacular aerobatic manoeuvres in the sky with their parachutes. The talk is from the International Paragliding Aerobatic Cup - in short "Acrojam".

Pilots go swimming

But that's not all, the 25 best pilots in the world do not wish to waste a single inch in height. Therefore, during the landing it is quite possible that the paraglider already touches the water, and then a few seconds’ later lands on the small 4 x 4.5 m wide platform, which is anchored in Lake Hallstatt. With these daredevil manoeuvres, no spectators will be able to remain seated. Non-fliers will get their money’s worth as it is of course possible that not all pilots will manage to land on the platform. In other words, the pilots get soaked - much to the pleasure of the audience.

To mark the end of this year’s Hallstatt Classics Susanne Hehenberger (violin), Taner Turker (cello) and Barbara Rektenwald (piano) will perform a matinee on Saturday 17th August 2013 at 11:15 with the slogan "Life Is A Delicious gift". During the matinee, in the Evangelical church of Hallstatt, you will get to hear works by Joseph Haydn, Nancy de Vate, Alison Wrenn, Barbara Rektenwald, Fanny Mendelssohn and Astor Piazzolla.
