Unusual tour

Looted museums

Between 1933 and 1945, the National Socialists bought and looted unusual art treasures throughout Europe. The well-known works were intended for Hitler's art museum, which was to be built in the Upper Austrian capital. But at the end of the reign of terror, the numerous monuments with an estimated value of around 3.5 billion US dollars had suddenly disappeared from the scene. "Art treasure hunters" of the American military tracked down the numerous "treasures" in the old salt mine of Altaussee in the Styrian Salzkammergut and thus also provided the template for the Hollywood blockbuster "The Monuments Men".

"Bombs on Michelangelo"

How the works of art got there and, above all, how they could be rescued from the clutches of the destructive National Socialists, you will learn in this exciting special tour. Here, at the original location, the true story of the dramatic rescue of Hitler's looted art is told.

The discovery of summer

Come with us on a 90-minute journey through time to the "Mountain of Treasures", take a look into the tunnels, in the depths of which works by Michelangelo, Dürer and many others were stored not so long ago. An award-winning multimedia show documents the rescue of these treasures in a particularly impressive and captivating way.
