After a brilliant festival season 2024 in the year of the European Capital of Culture, we are now pleased to give you a preview of the Beethoven plus Festival 2025! This year, too, we remain true to our mission: to perform musical masterpieces in the heart of Austria – interpreted by renowned artists, up-and-coming talents, musicians from the region and our ever-growing festival choir. This season's season promises musical highlights with extraordinary programs and unforgettable concert experiences. Once again, we are pleased to welcome outstanding soloists and performers. Moods from Nature
The Vienna Volksoper Chamber Ensemble performs works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Claude Debussy, Gustav Holst, and Edward Grieg. In this group of strings and wind instruments centered around the harp, the musicians from the Vienna Volksoper Orchestra demonstrate their passion for chamber music, in which each musician contributes to the ensemble as a soloist.
Listening to one another, sharing interjections, letting melodies ring out, and shaping a work from the most delicate lyricism to orchestral fullness is a welcome change from the daily routine of the opera house for the experienced orchestral musicians.
A musical bridge from classical to contemporary music brings lightness and drama, well-being, and excitement to the evening. This concert in the beautifully situated church in Altaussee invites you to capture the natural moods expressed by composers Claude Debussy and Gustav Holst in their works. Ludwig van Beethoven's Serenade for Flute, Violin, and Viola is intended to be a classical counterpart to the transfigured, atmospheric, and impressionistic sounds of Debussy's Petite Suite and G. Holst's impressionistic Hymns from Rig Veda.
Our new member of the Artistic Directorate – flautist Renate Linortner – and her ensemble will bring these selected natural atmospheres to our ears in this program item.
