Also this year there will be a New Year's swim on Lake Hallstatt, on January 1, 2026 and 11:11 a.m. at the Untersee lido, in Bad Goisern, with New Year's concert and 2 sauna barrels, free admission.
On January 1, 2026, the time has come again, at 11:00 a.m. many onlookers and intrepid swimmers will meet at the Untersee lido to welcome the New Year together. At 11:15 a.m., with the start of the New Year's Concert, the numerous swimmers go together to a countdown into the water, which is about 5 degrees cold. It is not a competition, but everyone shapes their swimming according to their own abilities and possibilities. Some swim entire distances, others only go into the water up to their waists and still others come in costume.
This year, for the first time, a chimney sweep will accompany the New Year's event as a lucky charm, and it's not a costume, it's real. He will also swim - dressed alone in his top hat.
You swim in the crystal-clear water of Lake Hallstatt, but the feeling when you come out is as if it had been Siegfried's dragon's blood and you are invulnerable for the whole of 2025. The sounds of the Strauss waltz, a small refreshment with rolls, hot and cold drinks and 2 preheated sauna barrels to warm up are prepared. The event is free of charge and open to everyone.
