Ice swimming at Lake Hallstatt, Austria 2026
The annual ice swimming at Lake Hallstatt is the 7th in a row, and takes place on Saturday the 21th of February 2026 at the Untersee beach. It will be held for the first time on the north shore of Lake Hallstatt in the municipal area of Bad Goisern, and is organized entirely by the Bad Goisern Water Rescue Team. Swimming takes place in the crystal clear and cold water of Lake Hallstatt on 4 lanes of 25 m. The heated Water Rescue hut and tempered changing rooms are available for the participants, as well as 2 sauna barrels and a hot tub for warming up.
Registration is limited but still open. Interested swimmers can register online at www.eisschwimmen.at for the breaststroke and freestyle events (50, 100, 200, 400, 500, or 1000 meters) as well as the 4 x 50 meter freestyle relay.
