The Espen Eriksen Trio and Andy Sheppard first joined forces for two concerts in London in 2016. From the very first note, it was clear that this was a perfect match. To quote the jazz website "All About Jazz," "the symbiosis between the saxophonist and the trio is truly remarkable." In 2018, they released their first collaborative album, "Perfectly Unhappy," followed by a live album and another studio album, "As It Gets." This album was voted the 6th best jazz album of 2023 by Jazzwise.
After 18 years, seven albums, and regular tours across four continents, the Espen Eriksen Trio, with its unique group sound, is firmly established on the international jazz scene. With a career spanning more than four decades and collaborations with greats such as George Russell, Gil Evans, and Carla Bley, Andy Sheppard is one of Europe's leading saxophonists.
Together, they create top-tier melodic jazz that has prompted critics to search for their best superlatives and draw comparisons to the legendary "Belonging" quartet featuring Keith Jarrett and Jan Garbarek.
