The big event weekend
From July 11th, 2025 - July 13th, 2025 the largest Austrian mountain bike marathon will take place in Bad Goisern. The Salzkammergut Trophy weekend will not only be brilliant for the expected 4,000 participants from up to 30 nations, but also for spectators and companions, because a wide supporting program awaits.
All beginnings were difficult
Since 1998, a very special mountain bike event has also taken place every year at the foot of the Dachstein: the Salzkammergut Trophy. 220 die-hards once competed in the premiere. Two decades later, more than 5,000 participants from over 40 nations will be at the start in July 2025.
For the toughest among them, the competition day begins at five o'clock in the morning. At dawn, the starting signal for the marathon is given on the market square of Bad Goisern. The extreme distance is 211 kilometres. An incredible 7,119 meters of altitude have to be mastered.
These challenges make the race the toughest mountain bike marathon in Europe. In addition to professionals who have their sights set on the day's victory, more and more hobby bikers are taking on the demanding route. Her goal is to immortalize herself in the finisher list one day. While the winners have long since been determined and celebrated, for many of them the race day does not end until the evening hours ...
For more than two decades, the Salzkammergut Trophy has been the undisputed highlight of the season of every year for many mountain bike fans! After the restrictions last year, this year the implementation of Austria's most popular MTB marathon in the old and proven form is now finally secured!
