Almost 30 percent incline throughout!

The relocation of the route due to the risk of falling rocks was met with great enthusiasm by the participants. "That's why we decided to leave the track as it is. It is now 500 meters shorter," says Sigi Lemmerer from the O.K. Team, "but we have a gradient of 30 percent almost continuously from the start. And we hear again and again that it is precisely this continuous incline that makes our event so special," says the organizer.

Hoping for sunshine

The organizers have already had to shovel the way to the finish line clear of snow. "In the worst case, we'll just unpack our snow shovels again," says Gernot Schiller with motivation. After all, the best conditions for the participants are obligatory at the mountain run.

One mountain – one team!

For decades, almost the same team has been ensuring that the Katrin mountain run runs smoothly. "It is not a matter of course that you can still find so many volunteers in this day and age. On the day of the race, about 100 people help us and a large part of the team has been with us from the beginning," the organizers are grateful for the tireless efforts. And the participants also appreciate it: "It's almost like coming home, every year the same face smiles at you at the beer counter and asks how it was this year," reports one participant.

"We shouldn't forget the sponsors either, because we are lucky that most of them have been with us for the years," says Gernot Schiller happily, "and the many years of uncomplicated cooperation with the Katrin cable car, the Katrin innkeepers, the timekeepers or the municipality also speak for the team spirit at the Katrin Mountain Run."

So the team of the Katrin mountain run is motivated and if the sun tries a little longer, then nothing stands in the way of a sports festival with tradition in the middle of the unique landscape of the Salzkammergut this year.
