The composer and saxophonist Irene Reig is one of the outstanding representatives of the new generation of Catalan jazz musicians. Despite her youth, she can already look back on a long career and has released five albums as a leader. Irene Reig began playing classical piano at the Escola de Músics in the Raval district of Barcelona. She immersed herself in the world of jazz and modern music and earned a degree in saxophone from ESMUC. Later, she moved to Amsterdam to pursue a master's degree in the same field. She currently lives in Barcelona and teaches at ESMUC. She leads four bands. Their own compositions have made them a revelation of national jazz.
