Hiking through the high moor called "Löckermoos" in Gosau on the Austrian national holiday, 26 October, is a good idea, as it is a wonderful nature experience in a unique high moor landscape. The Löckermoos, also known as the "Löckern", is a natural jewel in Gosau in the Salzkammergut, which lies at an altitude of around 1400 meters. The village is known for its small lake with an impressive view of the Gosaukamm and the typical mountain pines, which are called "Löckern" in the Gosau dialect.
The national holiday offers a good opportunity to enjoy nature and escape the stress of everyday life.

After the convivial ascent with the Gosau slow train, we hike on historic paths through the Löckenmoos ceiling high moor. Passing the small moor lake and legendary karst caves, we discover rare plants and the grindstone quarries that are still active today. We enjoy the view of the overwhelming mountain panorama of the Gosaukamm and the stop at a rustic alpine hut.
