A Symposium on Rural Building Culture
between tradition and innovation
interventa Hallstatt 2024 is a transdisciplinary symposium on building culture between tradition and innovation as part of the European Capital of Culture Bad Ischl Salzkammergut 2024. Equipping rural regions for a sustainable future requires innovation and change.
The curators of interventa Hallstatt 2024, Sabine Kienzer and Marie-Therese Harnoncourt-Fuchs, invite regional and international protagonists of tomorrow's building culture to explore topics of emigration, new living environments, future-proof tourism, resources and innovations, as well as mobility and landscape change. The actors come from the fields of architecture, philosophy and sociology, culinary arts as well as the visual and performing arts. They are global and local, avant-garde and traditional, and they operate between utopia and pragmatism.
For four consecutive days, the focus of interventa Hallstatt 2024 will be on the conditions, tools and applications needed for progress and the communication of future-proof building culture. The formats are performative, classical and non-conventional.
As an example for the entire region, Hallstatt is to become an inspiring centre of regional and international networking and interdisciplinary exchange between theory and practice. The symposium will take place at the HTBLA Hallstatt.
