This year, the World Heritage Museum Hallstatt, located in the historic centre of the salt works, is once again taking part in the Austria-wide museum campaign "Long Night of the Museums" organised by the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF). Night owls with an interest in architecture will get their money's worth again this year! On Saturday, 3 October 2026, the museum will be open for you in the evening from 18:00 to 00:00. Take a journey through time from the Stone Age to the present day - in addition to the unique exhibits from a wide variety of time periods, you will experience the history of our homeland virtually and visually using Hallstatt as an example.
The spectacular finds from the oldest salt mine in the world and the world-famous finds from the Hallstatt burial ground were so important that an entire cultural period was named after this place – the Hallstatt culture (800 – 450 BC).
From 18:00 to 24:00 hrs. the Hallstatt World Heritage Museum will be open for you on this evening. This will be an interesting journey through the eras. Celebration promised! The organizers are looking forward to your visit. See you on Saturday, October 03, 2026 in Hallstatt.
