Many of our readers have already read it: From September 2025 to June 2026, there will be extensive renovation work at the Salt Mine in Hallstatt. Among other things, the funicular to the Salzberg will be renewed. Therefore, the show mine and the "Skywalk Hallstatt" will be closed during this period. All those who like mysterious tunnels, and we don't mean the delicious Christmas biscuits, will also get their money's worth during the construction work. Because the Hallstatt Salt Mine has set up a cool shuttle to the show mine in Altaussee, Styria.

From 1 September 2025, the Salt Mine will offer a daily shuttle service from Hallstatt to Altaussee - perfectly coordinated with the guided tour of the Altaussee Salt Mine at 3:00 p.m.

This is how it works from 1 September 2025

  • Departure from the Busterminal Hallstatt Lahn at 14:00 hrs
  • Punctual arrival in Altaussee for the 15:00 hrs. guided tour
  • Return trip from Altaussee at approx. 5:00 p.m., arrival in Hallstatt at 17:30 hrs.
  • The complete prices (incl. return journey & admission to the Altaussee Salt Mine):
  • Adults: 44,- Euro
  • Children (4–15 years): 24 euros
