A combination of sporting challenge and the backdrop of the most "Instagrammable" place in the world
In 2026, numerous runners from Europe and the world will once again take to the track at the Lake Hallstatt Half Marathon. Whether young or old, experienced or rookies - they are all looking for a sporting challenge in the heart of the Salzkammergut. For some it is the first time, others do the honours every year and combine the run with an extended weekend in the "most beautiful lake town in the world", as the world traveller Alexander von Humboldt noted at the beginning of the 19th century.
Well taken care of
For many runners, one of the most beautiful sections of the approximately 21-kilometre-long course is the eastern shore of Lake Hallstatt. Along the entire route from Hallstatt via Obertraun and Bad Goisern back to the World Heritage site, numerous eager helpers are waiting for the challengers with refreshments in various so-called refreshment stations.

Whether followers or visitors - everyone is looking forward to the award ceremony at the end as part of a party on the picturesque market square of the salt works. Here, everyone comes together once again for cool drinks and traditional delicacies. In addition, there are attractive prices, provided by domestic commercial enterprises.
