The mountain highlight of autumn
The crossing of the Sarstein between Bad Goisern on Lake Hallstatt and Obertraun is one of the most beautiful and spectacular hiking tours in the entire Salzkammergut. Surefootedness, mountain experience and a large portion of endurance are basic prerequisites for this guided hike. Experience a day like in a picture book. It starts either at 6:30 a.m. at the train station in Obertraun with a taxi ride to the starting point of our hike to Bad Goisern or from 7:00 a.m. at the "Pötschenkehre" car park directly on the Salzkammergut main road (B145). The path then leads to the managed "Niedere Sarsteinalm", further up to the summit cross and along the ridge to the "Obertrauner Sarsteinhütte". Fantastic views and a unique mountain landscape provide plenty of variety. With Lake Hallstatt and the village of Obertraun in sight, the descent into the valley then takes place.

If desired: "Kaiserschmarrn meal" at the "Obertraun Sarsteinhütte" or other "hut delicacies". Taxi return transfer from Obertraun train station (with waiting option at the Mammut Express) at approx. 15:30 / 16:00 p.m. to the "Pötschenkehre" car park in Bad Goisern on Lake Hallstatt.

The Obertraun “Hiking in Autumn Program” includes hiking tours ranging from 500 m to 2100 m above sea level. Tours range from easy, in terms of difficulty, to very challenging. The Dachstein-Krippenstein cable car is a means of conquering 1600 m quickly and effortlessly!
