Feel like hiking?
September is the most beautiful time for hiking: the air is clear, the sky is often clear blue and the distant views are almost endless.
It is especially beautiful on the Dachstein plateau in Obertraun. The popular hiking guide Barbara Bichler leads you on this high alpine day hike past the small Krippenstein cave to the historic “Heilbronnerkreuz” (Heilbronn Cross).
Passing historic pastures, the path leads us to the Modereck hut. The tiny hut, also used as a shelter for the shepherds, is the highest Alpine pasture in the Dachstein massif. The first traces of the history of the huts date back to the 16th century.
Back from the mountain
After the ride on the Dachstein Krippenstein cable car from the Gjaidalm down into the valley, an eventful hiking day with lots of interesting facts about life in the unique cultural and natural landscape in the UNESCO World Heritage region of Hallstatt Dachstein Salzkammergut comes to an end.
