61sth Ecumenical Church Music Retreat Gosau 2017

From 17th of July to 31th of July 2017, the 61st Ecumenical Church Music Retreat will take place in Gosau in Upper Austria under the auspices of the Association for Church Music of the Evangelical Church of the Palatinate in Germany. More than 100 participants from various European countries are expected to attend. Under the direction of church music director Jochen Steuerwald (Speyer), visitors of the retreat will be rehearsing and performing the “Coronation Mass” by Wolfgang Amadeus for solists, choir and orchestra.

The program also includes Johann Sebastian Bachʼs oratorio for the Feast of the Ascension, “Lobet Gott in seinen Reichen” and the motet “Lobet den Herrn, alle Heiden”.Four internationally recognized soloists and the Chamber Orchestra of Upper Austria will perform with the choir of the Ecumenical Church Music Retreat.The following concerts will be held in the Gosau region:

Attendance is free of charge; donations are requested at the door.The retreat program also includes organ courses to be held by cantor of Kusel, Germany Tobias Markutzik, as well as instruction in choral directing under Jochen Steuerwald. In addition, children participants will rehearse a musical drama under the direction of Vera Steuerwald, an expert in youth music and vocal education.

Family Holiday in Gosau
