Among the numerous mountain masses in the Salzkammergut, the service in the small Dachstein Chapel, right next to the Simonyhütte, is probably one of the most heavenly mountain experiences during a holiday on Lake Hallstatt. After all, it is an impressive moment when the priest gives a blessing to all the faithful at the foot of the majestic Dachstein. This day on the mountain is rounded off with hearty music and tasty food in the Simonyhütte. For all those who would like to take part in this mountain mass, here are a few tips: The mountain service starts at around midday. We recommend taking the Dachstein Krippenstein cable car from Obertraun to the Gjaidalm and then a relaxed hike of around two to three hours to the Simonyhütte. Either via the Trägerweg, the Zirbengrube or the Wiesberghaus. To avoid stress, we recommend that you take the first cable car of the day. For mountain enthusiasts and nature lovers, who want to enjoy even more relaxation, we can recommend an overnight stay at the Simonyhütte. Then there is simply more time for the unique natural landscape and the colourful sun. You can hike to the Simonyhütte either via the Gjaidalm or in an approximately four-hour climb from Hallstatt via the Echerntal. Please do not forget to register in good time if you plan to stay overnight in the hut.
