Exhibition "Views of Nature and Life"

Inspired by the mountains and caves on and in the Dachstein, Ferdinand Winterauer also captured them on drawing sheets and canvas. The theme of speleology and the literary works in his life are also addressed. In his 1986 book "CITIZENSHIP : NONE", a report on war refugees after the 2nd World War, which describes their reception and expectations in the inner Salzkammergut, "Ferdl" lets us participate in his deeply humane view of life.

The exhibition "Nature and Life Views" by Ferdinand Winterauer can be seen from Friday, March 22, to Friday, April 5, 2024 at the Obertraun municipal office during the following opening hours: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Wednesday and Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.!

Zur Person:

Ferdinand Winterauer, born in Bad Goisern in 1933, was a cave guide at the Dachstein Caves in Obertraun for 34 years, a member of the Obertraun Mountain Rescue Service and the Hallstatt-Obertraun Cave Association for many decades, and also appeared as a developer of special mountain and cave rescue equipment.
"Ferdl", as his friends called him, was a creative person and artist of a special kind, who created a lot of lasting things in the Inner Salzkammergut. For many years, his heart was also devoted to music, where he contributed to the St. Agatha fire brigade band with various musical instruments. "Ferdl" documented his artistic path as a writer, poet, filmmaker, draughtsman and painter, which is also demonstrated by this exhibition through his artistic work. Winterauer passed away in November 2023, shortly after his 90th birthday.
