Mountain run at 2000 metres
Location: Gemeindeamt Obertraun, 4831 Obertraun
"Dachstein-Krippenstein mountain run"
The search for athletes, who are the fastest to conquer the steep, stamina-sapping distance between the Obertraun Town Hall and the Schönbergalm, or the "World Heritage spiral" on the Krippenstein summit, will take place on Saturday, 20th June 2015 in Obertraun on the south bank of Lake Hallstatt.
Short or long distance?
Athletes can choose between two different distances! Either the short distance to the Schönbergalm, with a vertical climb of around 900 meters and a length of 4.6 km or the long distance, which continues from the Schönbergalm to the highest point on the Krippenstein - the "World Heritage spiral". The length of the long distance is an impressive 8.8 km and surmounts a height difference of around 1670 metres!
Sporty but also scenically more than appealing!
The "Dachstein-Krippenstein mountain run" will, without exception, follow existing and marked trails. The majority of them along trail number 662, which leads through a small cave and past the dreamy "Däumelseelein". However, due to the height differences, it is highly unlikely that the athletes will have time to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Dachstein massif.
The award ceremony will take place on the mountain, in the "Lodge on the Krippenstein". By the way, as a reward - in addition to the prize money for the winner - for all finishers awaits an not everyday experience of a night ride back to the valley, with the Krippenstein cable car!
