Discover the artist's world at
Lake Traunsee with a boat trip and hike

From the exhibition in the Villa Pantschoulidzeff – built by the famous architect Theophil Hansen – with a magnificent view of Lake Traunsee and Traunstein, this expedition takes you by boat across the lake into the "wild" Salzkammergut: The destination is the abandoned Karbach mine, an industrial plant in the middle of a picturesque mountain world on the lonely eastern shore. White limestone was quarried here from 1890 to 2005. The guests now encounter the symbiosis of nature, industrial culture and artistic interventions

Above the monastery square in Traunkirchen, a villa was built around 1850 for a Georgian-Russian prince's daughter – a meeting place for famous musicians and writers. Now works by contemporary artists can be seen there, such as the main work "Karbach-Hochalter" by Walter Pilar in the Garden Hall. In the living room, bedroom and cabinet, guests experience works that are fascinating and irritating, humorous and serious at the same time. You can see dives, root worlds, headstands and an endless necklace. From the terrace, the mountains on the other shore of Lake Traunsee look like the background landscape in Leonardo da Vinci's "Mona Lisa"
