In many families, attending a service on Christmas Eve is part of the usual ritual, even regardless of regular congregational ties. The services on Christmas Eve are therefore the best attended throughout the year in all Christian denominations.

Especially on the last days of the year, many take the opportunity to visit church. Because especially at Christmas time, this contemplative time of the year, the motto "together instead of lonely" applies.
