Autumnal traditions in the Gosau Valley
In the early days of alpine farming, farmers had every reason to be happy when they were able to welcome their alpine animals back to the valley happy and safe. Unlike today, you had to descend into the valley through often impassable terrain. With the expansion of the paths and roads up to the alpine pastures, the cattle drives up and down the mountain pastures are now largely safe. As in the past, however, the festive tradition of the cattle drive is still celebrated today, a custom that is an integral part of alpine life in the Gosau Valley.
There's something going on
Everyone celebrates on this day at the Moosalm in Gosau: craftsmen, associations and all people who care about customs. Of course, the hearty folk music with alpine songs, sung by the Gosau dairymaids, should not be missing. Our international guests from all over the world are also cordially invited to this day. Get to know typical Austrian customs. Far away from kitsch.
