Counting sheep for everyone

The sheep, which graze on the "Schattseit'n" all summer long, are rounded up in the Mittertal for mustering. And you can watch it live. A really cute family experience. Just great! This is where unforgettable images are created.

What is a sheep muster?

In spring, various farmers from the Gosau Valley drive their sheep to the lush alpine pastures around Gosau. Since there are hardly any fences, the many lambs mix over the summer months. Therefore, they are provided with an ear tag by their owners. When autumn arrives, the loose flocks of sheep are herded into an enclosure and the sheep mustering begins. Based on the ear marking, each sheep can now be assigned to its owner. Important here is the crier, who reproduces the markings or the numbers of the ear tags in the typical dialect.
